SURROGATE HEADFORM TEST PACKAGE:
Prong 1 is a surrogate head form test package that utilizes these revolutionary soft sensors embedded in a soft surrogate brain for quantification of the strains that result from impacts and blasts. This will enable a true determination of the protection capability of helmets and other personal protection equipment when tested on this head form package.
HELMETS WITH BIO-TWITCH SOFT SENSORS to measure CONCUSSION in REAL-TIME:
Prong 2 utilizes our soft sensors in a pressure sensing configuration that is embedded in the pads of the helmets to enable deployable, real-time monitoring. This is calibrated with the surrogate head form package and will alert the user if an external force is above a threshold that is likely to have caused a concussion.

We all know – One second to injure your brain………takes weeks, months & years to recover, so we are in a mission to prevent “Traumatic Brain Injury”. Designed in a department of defense laboratory, Bio-Twitch uses a unique soft sensor which helps to measure small to moderately large (>20%) strains and pressures with high accuracy. These sensors are soft, flexible and designed to mimic the feel of human tissue which enables measurement of the leading causes of concussion in “real time”. These sensors are easily used in prosthetic limbs because of its texture which is the human like tissue. These sensors are the only sensors which are soft, use liquid metal, and measure high pressure at high rate.
Use Cases
Repetitive trauma to the head results in long term cumulative brain damage. Reduced cognitive performance and finally deterioration and disease. Based on the data provided by center for disease control and prevention (CDC), there are about 500,000 annual ER visits for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) in children aged 0 to 14 years. One of the leading causes of all TBI related ER visits is concussion, which accounts for 16% of visits.
One of the main avenues leading to a concussion is participation in contact sports. The CDC estimates as many as 3.8 million concussions occur in the U.S. annually through sports and recreational activities. However, only a fraction of sports concussions are recognized by athletes, coaches, and parents, and treated by medical professionals in a timely manner. TBI is known to be significantly worse with cumulative concussions which is why timely diagnosis is essential.
But now with our Bio-Twitch (soft sensors) we provide real-time stats on concussion to sports coaches as soon as it happens along with the impact scenario which determines whether the athlete needs an immediate medical attention or just need few minutes/hours of rest. This is an important discovery to change lives of athletes and military people to lead happy life.
